Demonstration Team

Demonstration Team

Sutherland Shire Dog Training Club (SSDTC) actively supports the local community.  To that end we have a Demonstration Team, which undertakes Obedience, Agility and Trick demonstrations at Community events and Nursing Homes.

The Demonstration Team, made up of both Obedience and Agility members of the Club, actively participate in community events such as the Engadine Lions Club Fete, Sutherland Shire Animal Shelter Open Day and Assistance Dogs Australia Dogs' Breakfast where they undertake a display of their expertise to the audience's delight. The canines love a chance to perform and are always well received and appreciated by the public. If you attend these events you will have a chance to see the canines in action as the Community Events are a fun day out for all and at the same time money is raised for some very worthwhile endeavours.

The Team are also frequently invited to visit Nursing Homes or Retirement Villages with the canines being consummate performers both indoors and outdoors. They can be regularly seen at Lark Ellen Nursing Home at Sutherland, Roberts Lodge at Peakhurst, Sir Thomas Mitchell Nursing Home at Illawong, Stella Maris Nursing Home at Cronulla and John Paul Village at Heathcote to name just a few. It is a wonderful opportunity for the dog lovers who are residents to interact once more with man's best friend.

Visits to Community Events and the Nursing Homes are on a volunteer basis.  All members of the Club are welcome to join in, either occasionally or on a regular basis.  The only prerequisites are that your dog is obedient, calm, friendly and won’t mind receiving affection from the residents at the Nursing Homes.

The visits are quite rewarding and can also be a lot of fun too.  It is a great chance to socialise with both your fellow Club members and members of the community.

If you were interested in joining in we would love to have you.  Dogs of all shapes, sizes and breeds are most welcome.

If you are a visitor to this website and would like to discuss the possibility of having the SSDTC Demonstration Team represented at your Community Event or visit your centre, please contact the Demonstration Manager at the Club during training hours.
